      The magnesia-carbon brick with high price purity and sintering temperature for converter is called direct bonded magnesia-carbon brick because of direct contact with magnesite grains. The brick made of fused magnesia is called electric fused magnesia brick, which is suitable for large and medium-sized lime kilns such as rotary kilns, sleeve kilns and vertical kilns. Magnesium brick is a kind of magnesia content in more than 90%, with magnesite as the main crystalline phase of alkaline refractories. Generally can be divided into sintered magnesia brick (also known as burned magnesia brick) and chemical combination magnesia brick (also known as not burned magnesia brick) two categories.

      In the common and special refractories, the main varieties commonly used are the following

1. The acid

Large amount of silicon brick and clay brick. Silica brick is a siliceous product containing more than 93% SiO2. The raw materials used are silica, waste silicon brick and so on. Silica brick has strong corrosion resistance to acid slag, but it is easy to be eroded by alkaline slag. Its softening temperature under load is very high, which is close to its refractoriness. After repeated calcination, the volume does not shrink or even expand slightly, but the thermal shock resistance is poor.

2. Neutral

The main crystal phases of the high alumina products are mullite and corundum, the content of corundum increases with the increase of alumina content, corundum products containing more than 95% alumina is a kind of high quality refractory with wide use. Chromium brick is mainly made of chromite and its main crystalline phase is chromite. It has good corrosion resistance to steel slag, but poor thermal shock resistance and low deformation temperature under high temperature. Cr-magnesia brick made of chromium ore and magnesia in different proportions has good thermal shock resistance and is mainly used as basic flat furnace top brick.

Magnesium brick has the advantages of strong alkaline erosion resistance, strong erosion resistance, good thermal stability, high compressive strength and high softening temperature under load. Burned magnesia brick is made of high quality sintered magnesia as the main raw material and paper pulp as the binder. After mixing and high pressure molding, it is fired in tunnel kiln with high temperature above 1550℃. It has good thermal stability, corrosion resistance and spalling resistance. Widely used in converter, arc furnace and other industrial furnaces as lining refractory material.
